LEP began as a result of a vision by Jacob G. Madehdou, a member of the Somerton United Methodist Church (SUMC), Philadelphia, PA and native of Liberia, West Africa. The Liberia Education Project is presently run by a Team of dedicated volunteers who are giving their time and resources to make a difference in the lives of needy children and adults in communities and villages in Liberia.
